Researchers digitally unwrapped a 3,500-year-old Egyptian pharaoh mummy
The researchers unearthed the mummy of Egyptian pharaoh Amenhotep I in 1881. The scientists digitally unwrapped a 3,500-year-old mummy for the first time.
The scientists used a three-dimensional computed tomography, or CT scan, to uncover and analyse the Egyptian Pharoah’s mummy.
Frontiers in Medicine published the work on 28 December 2021. As a result, the new development will reveal unique insights into the Egyptian pharaoh’s life.
“For the first time, we can learn about the mummy without damaging it,” said Zahi Hawass. The study’s co-author is Hawass, a well-known Egyptologist.
Between 1525 and 1504 BC, Amenhotep I dominated the Egyptian civilisation for approximately 21 years. According to the latest research, Amenhotep I died when he was roughly 35 years old.
Serbia plans to purchase 12 Rafale fighter jets from France for defence
Serbia‘s Air Force is planning to purchase Rafale aircraft from France, according to Defense Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic, on 28 December 2021.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic proposed a €500 million (₹4,200 crores) boost in the country’s €1.1 billion military budget for more equipment and weapons in 2022.
Stefanovic also revealed that Serbia is discussing the pricing and maintenance details for the previously announced purchase of 11 old Mi-35 helicopters with Cyprus. However, the military will make the ultimate choice.
The minister also revealed intentions to put Russia‘s Kornet anti-tank missile systems. That he described as a “killing weapon” for armoured vehicles.
₹5.76 crores worth of diamonds seized by Chennai customs from an air traveller
The Chennai Customs air intelligence unit arrested a traveller to UAE with more than 1050 carats of diamonds. In the handle of his backpack, the traveller had secreted 22 little clear plastic packets containing processed diamonds.
The sachets were hidden in the extendable handle of the man’s stroller luggage. The customs officer halted a passenger on an Emirates flight to Dubai for examination on 28 December 2021.
He was later apprehended after failing to disclose the diamonds and attempting to smuggle them. The total value of diamonds is ₹5.76 crores.
Israel attacks Gaza after gunfire injures civilians
An Israeli and three Palestinians were injured in the gunfire by the militants on the Gaza border on 29 December 2021.
Following a rare gathering of top officials, Israel announced steps aimed at improving living conditions in the occupied West Bank.
In recent months, Israel has announced a series of steps aimed at reducing tensions. But they have had no obvious influence on the ground, where attacks by both Israeli residents and Palestinians are on the rise. Moreover, there haven’t been any peace discussions in almost ten years.

A brawl broke out during a draft constitutional amendment: Jordan Parliament
In the Jordan parliament, pandemonium erupted during a heated discussion on controversial constitutional revisions on 29 December 2021.

The MPs traded fists as one deputy fell to the ground as others yelled in wild scenes that lasted a few minutes, prompting the session to suspend until the next day.
