Farms Laws: PM Modi withdrew the three laws on the day of the Gurpurab Festival

Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi announced the withdrawal of three farm laws on November 19. Indian Farmers from Punjab and Haryana have been protesting these laws since November 26 last year.

Particularly, the laws have been withdrawn on the day of Guru Nanak’s birthday. Indeed, Guru Nanak is the founder of Sikhism. Moreover, most of the Punjabis are Sikhs.

The first farm law is The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, which denotes the practice of contract farming.

The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act is the second controversial farm law. The purpose of this law was to remove the government’s authority to limit stockpiles of vital food goods, save in exceptional situations.

The third law is The Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act. It establishes a method for farmers to sell their goods other than Agriculture Produce Market Committees (APMCs).

However, the withdrawal of three controversial farm laws after a long protest is a massive victory for the farmers around the country.

Vice President Kamala Harris becomes the first woman to get US Presidential powers

US President Joe Biden has temporarily given the presidential power to Vice President Kamala Harris on November 19. That is due to his medical emergency. Thus, it makes her the first woman in US history to possess presidential power.

Kamala Harris is the first woman to become the Vice President of the United States. And now, she also becomes the first woman to get the presidential powers. In the 250 years of US Presidential history, no woman has gained this authority.

The US President is under anaesthesia for a routine colonoscopy. Moreover, Joe Biden’s birthday was on November 20. Joe Biden also makes a new history as the first US President to turn 79 while in office.

Pharma Industry: PM Modi asks to increase the raw material production for medicines in India

Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi launched the Global Innovation Summit for the Pharma sector. The event has hosted by the Indian Pharmaceuticals Association.

PM Modi asks the manufacturers to increase the production of vital raw materials for medicines and vaccines in India. Thus wants to make India self-sufficient in the pharma industry.

Also, he stated that the Indian pharmaceutical industry’s innovative attitude has led to India being at the forefront of Covid-19 vaccine development. Further, he said that India has become a significant exporter of PPE kits.

Flights for Singapore-India to resume from November 29

Singapore said it has worked out a deal with India to continue flights under the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) service. This service would begin on November 29 with six daily flights from Chennai, Delhi, and Mumbai.

Singapore has started negotiations with Indian authorities for a temporary solution for the partial resumption of commercial flights between the two sides. So, fully vaccinated travellers can travel without a quarantine period in the destination.

The travellers must submit the fully vaccinated certificate. In addition, they have to take two Covid-19 tests before departure and after the arrival of the flight.

Singapore high commissioner Simon Wong said that Indian travellers could apply for a Vaccinated Travel Pass (VTP) to travel from November 22.

15 people drowned dead due to floods in Myanmar

In Myanmar, at least 15 people drowned while trying to cross a flooded bridge to a Buddhist shrine (Pagoda). The tragedy occurred on November 21.

Thousands of devotees attempted to approach the Kyeik Hne pagoda, located on a rocky ledge three kilometres off the shore. The Buddhist temple is in the southern part of Mon State in Myanmar.

According to local officials, some people died as they attempted to cross the badly defined causeway. The causeway is just about four metres wide and only about four metres wide when the water is too high.
