152 Palestinians injured during a confrontation between Israeli police at Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem
Confrontations with Israeli riot police injured at least 152 Palestinians within Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa mosque compound on April 15, 2022.
The latest outbreak in a recent uptick of violence has fuelled worries of a return to wider bloodshed.
According to the Palestine Red Crescent, rubber bullets, stun grenades, and police baton beatings caused the majority of Palestinian injuries at the most sensitive location in the generations-old Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Following a string of fatal Arab street assaults around the country in the last two weeks, Israeli security personnel have been on high alert. Confrontations at the Al-Aqsa site in Jerusalem’s walled Old City raise the prospect of a wider conflagration similar to last year’s Gaza conflict.
