The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel statue, the Statue of Unity is in Gujarat, India. Sardar Patel, well-known to be “Iron Man of India” for his diligent serving as Deputy Prime Minister of India in the rule of Independence. He played a major role as a freedom fighter and also as a senior leader in Indian National Congress guided the footpath to United Nations. Also recognised as ‘Unifier of India’ for uniting the integrated nation. Sardar Vallabhbhai Jhaverbhai Patel was born in Nadiad, Gujarat on October 31, 1875. And died in Bombay on December 15, 1950. The word ‘Sardar’ derived from the Hindi word refers to ‘chief’. Indeed, he has received India’s most privileged award, Bharat Ratna in 1991 posthumously.

The Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue located on the banks of the Narmada River in Kevadia, Narmada District, Gujarat, India. 14th Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Damodardas Modi inaugurated the Sardar Patel Statue on October 13, 2018. Padma Bhushan Shri Ram Vanji Surtur designed the Statue of Unity. India’s Largest Infrastructure Company, Larsen & Toubro constructed Sardar Patel Statue at the cost of ₹3000 crores. The gigantic statue of Sardar Patel is with a height of 240meters (790 feet) including a base of 58meters. The diameter of the button on the vest of the Sardar Patel Statue is 1.1meters. Moreover, the height of the toe of the Sardar Patel Statue is 3.6 meters. Inside the statue, divided into five zones, comprises a museum, an exhibition area, a viewing gallery and also a memorial garden.

The tall majestic golden coloured statue of Sri Ramanuja gives a pleasant visual to our eyes sitting on the land of SriramaNagaram, Shamshabad, Telangana. Sri Ramanuja was a Hindu theologian who follows the philosophy of Vaishnavism, one of the denominations of the religion Hinduism. Ramanuja was also a social reformer and philosopher who lived between 1017 CE to 1137 CE. His philosophical work, Vishishadvaita considered one of the three influential philosophies of Veda along with Dvaita and Advaita of the second millennium.

Making people remember the 1000th year of the birthday of the Ramanuja, a 65.8m tall statue dedicated to the Vaishnavite from 11th century Bhagavad Ramanuja known as The Statue of Equality. Chinna Jeeyar, one of the followers of the philosophy Vishishtadvaita and operates the spiritual centres which follow Sri Vaishnavism came up with the idea of the Statue of Equality. Of course, he designed and planned the statue of Ramanuja for the cost of 1000 crores. In addition, the fundings for the construction of the statue is only by donations. The statue of Equality is made up of a traditional metal alloy, known as Panchaloha which is a combination of five metals such as titanium, brass, copper, silver and gold. Moreover, this Panchaloha is used to make statues of Hindu deities and jewellery.

The Statue is located in the land of 34 acres with a base-building consisting of three-floor. The 6000 sq.m ground floor comprises philosophies and life of Ramanuja. The 27,870 sq.m second floor comprises the temple with 120kg of Ramanuja’s Statue which speaks of the life span of Ramanuja with meditation hall. On the third floor with a research centre and digital library of Vedas in 1365 sq.m. And the complex also consists of an Omnimax theatre.

Adiyogi Statue is a statue of Hindu god Shiva, sculptured from his head to chest with a crescent moon on his left side of the head. Five hundred tonnes of steel sheet and black marble has used to craft the statue. That gives the elegant look of Hindu Deity Lord Shiva. Moreover, this is one of the largest bust statues in India and all over the world. Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, the founder of Isha Foundation designed the colossal statue of Lord Shiva. Sadhguru, also known to be an Indian Yogi, Philosopher, Spiritual Leader and Author influenced people around the world through his spiritual speeches. In fact, Jaggi Vasudev has received Padma Vibhushan for his excellence in the field of spirituality. Jaggi Vasudev, as a devotee of Lord Shiva, built a huge statue in his foundation located in Coimbatore.

Adiyogi Statue is located in the complex of Isha Yoga Center in Thirunamam at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. The Adiyogi Statue, present in the Isha Yoga Meditation Complex, which also comprises Spanda Hall, Theerathakulam, Linga Bhairavi, Dhyanalinga and Adiyogi Alayam. The height of the majestic Adiyogi Statue is 112 feet (34 meters) and the width is 82 feet (25 meters). Though, there are many statues depicting Lord Shiva present around the world. However, this is considered to be the “Largest Bust Sculpture” by Guinness World Records. Also the biggest statue of Shiva in the world. Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Adiyogi Statue on February 24, 2017. On every occasion of Maha Shivaratri, a 3D laser show is projected on Adiyogi Statue narrating the story of Adiyogi and the power of yoga to the devotees.

Thiruvalluvar Statue

Thiruvalluvar Statue is the tip of the Indian Peninsular Region idolises the famous Tamil poet, philosopher and author of the ancient Tamil Classic Thirukkural – Thiruvalluvar. The Thiruvalluvar Statue, measured to be the 25th tallest statue in India. Valluvar lived in the region of Tondai Nadu of Tamil Nadu, which is currently the North of Tamil Nadu. Thiruvalluvar birthplace is certainly unknown but probably said to be in Mylapore. The Thiruvalluvar Statue symbolises the teaching from his ancient classic of Sangam Literature, Thirukkural. Thirukkural consists of 133 chapters (athikaram), each comprising 10 couplets (kurals) with a total of 1,330 kurals. In fact, Thirukkural, considered to be one of the World Literature as it gives enlightenment to the moral conducts of a common person.

Thiruvalluvar Statue, located on a small island rock present in the Coromandel Coast. At the confluence of the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean. Of course, the Saint Thiruvalluvar Statue is in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, India. The Indian Sculptor, V. Ganapathi Sthapati designed the structure of the Kanyakumari Thiruvalluvar Statue. The Former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr M Karunanidhi inaugurated the Thiruvalluvar Statue at the beginning of the millennium era on January 1, 2000. Indeed, the cost of the Kanyakumari Thiruvalluvar Statue is ₹6 crores. The materials used to construct the sculpture is Stone and Concrete with a total weight of 7000 tonnes. In fact, the height of the Saint Thiruvalluvar Statue is 133 feet which symbolise the number of chapters in Thirukkural which includes a pedestal base. For instance, the pedestal height is 38 feet which represent the 38 chapters of Virtue (Aram).

Jatayu Statue - Statues in India

JATAYU STATUE

Jatayu Earth Center is a rock theme park. A tourist spot located on the hilltop of Chandayamangalam in the Kollam district of Kerala. The sculpture depicts the fall of the Garuda Bird, Jatayu during the fight against the Demon King of Sri Lanka, Ravana, attempting to rescue Sita, the wife of Rama. According to Ramayana (a Hindu epic), Ravana defeated the demigod Jatayu bird due to the broken wing. And fell onto the rocks on Chandayamangalam. The statue symbolises the protection of women and their safety. The film director-cum-screenwriter-cum-sculptor, Rajiv Anchal designed the statue who works in the Malayalam film industry.

The most iconic bird structure in the world, the Jatayu statue holds the place of the world’s largest bird sculpture. The altitude of the presence of statue from the sea level is 1200 feet. The bird is sculptured as fallen upside down with a broken wing, screaming out of pain. The current Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the Jatayu statue on July 4, 2018. Indeed, the total construction cost of Jatayu Earth’s Center Nature Park is ₹100 crores. The Jayatu statue has a gigantic length of 61 meters with a height of 21 meters. The whole rock theme park sprawls on 65 acres of land around Chandayamangalam. Jatayu Nature Park comprises the Garuda Statue, Jatayu Museum, Adventure Park and also a Cave Resort.
