GatiShakti National Infrastructure Masterplan unveiled by PM Narendra Modi
Indian subcontinent’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched India’s first National infrastructure master plan. Currently, this is the first-ever infrastructure scheme planned nationwide.
Subsequently, as the first step of the scheme, the government launched the digital platform for National Infrastructure Masterplan. Additionally, the scheme is called PM GatiShakti.
GatiShakti combines 16 Indian ministries and brings them into one platform. Besides, GatiShakti includes seven important national infrastructure sectors. The master plan develops for roads, railways, telecom networks, gas pipelines all over the nation up to 2024 – 2025.
In National Infrastructure Pipeline projects central shares 39%, state shares 39% and private sectors shares 22%. India plans to spend 24% of the total expenditure in the energy sector, 19% on roadways, 13% on railways and 16% on urban areas.
Increased infrastructure investment sure boosts the cement demand in 2022
Quicker recovery in the housing industry with the government’s priority on infrastructure expenditure boosted the cement demand. That will cause an increase in cement demand by 10-12% in FY22. The accretion comes after cement demand fell by 1% in FY20 and 11% in FY21.
“Riled demand and low-interest rates have propelled the real estate industry during the pandemic. Moreover, the government’s push for big-ticket infrastructure projects has strengthened the growth momentum for the roads sector”. This report is according to rating firm Brickwork Ratings (BWR).
Although the industries have boosted cement prices, the price increase is not the same as an input cost increase. As a result, the companies are suffering a blow on profits to preserve larger volumes.
Kushinagar International Airport: PM Modi says it will boost tourism and connectivity
PM Modi inaugurated the new Kushinagar International Airport in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. Gautama Buddha’s ultimate resting place, Kushinagar, where he experienced Mahaparinirvana following his death. It is also the hub of the Buddhist circuit, which includes pilgrimage sites at Sarnath, Lumbini, and Gaya.
Kushinagar is one of the most prominent pilgrimage sites for Buddhists. The new international airport, which has expected to cost Rs 260 crore. It is part of the Modi government’s effort to connect Buddhist pilgrimage sites throughout the world.
The Prime Minister stated that it would boost tourism and connectivity following the opening of the international airport. Moreover, it contributes to a broader economic ecosystem development in the region and creates new job opportunities.
Bharatmala Project: Multi-modal logistics park in Nagpur for 780 crores
On 22 October 2021, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced the Bharatmala project. The project would result in the establishment of 35 multi-modal logistics parks in India.
Gadkari was addressing the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for a multi-modal logistics park at Sindhi in Maharashtra’s Wardha district by Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) and National Highways Logistics Management Ltd (NHLML), a specific purpose entity of NHAI.
The proposed project location is in Sindhi in the Wardha district of Nagpur. The project MMLP Nagpur is a total area of 345.54 acres and has an approximated project cost of Rs 780 crore.
Delhi Metro Yellow Line provides free Wi-Fi in all stations
Commuters will now be able to use free high-speed internet at all Metro stations on the Yellow Line, according to the statement issued by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Sunday.
This service, which coincides with the start of festival season, is introduced on the Yellow Line, which has 37 Metro stations. And goes primarily underground through one of Delhi’s most congested areas, spanning outer and north Delhi, central and south Delhi, and finally Gurugram.
More than 330 access points have been deployed at these 37 stations to give travellers uninterrupted internet access.
