Growth in Medical Tourism provides a boost for the sector: India Ambulance Service Report
The India Air Ambulance Services Market is expected to experience significant growth during the forecast period due to the increasing popularity of India as a medical tourism destination and the adoption of modern technologies in ambulance services.
The country currently has 49 air ambulances operated by 19 operators, with Delhi having the most at 39 and Maharashtra having 5.
The growing prevalence of chronic diseases and the increasing number of accidents in the country are also expected to drive market growth.
Air ambulance services offer advanced technologies and ensure safe patient transportation, making them particularly useful in rural areas with limited healthcare infrastructure.
Additionally, air ambulances are beneficial for patients who cannot tolerate long road journeys to hospitals and can assist with medical crisis management through communication and GPS tracking systems.
DNA profiling and Eye scanners are creating fear among the people of China
There are concerns that China’s use of DNA profiling and iris scanning technology could facilitate the country’s alleged practice of forcibly harvesting human organs for sale.
These tools are being used as part of mass collection campaigns in the Tibet Autonomous Region and Qinghai province, which have drawn criticism from human rights groups and politicians in Europe and the US.
It is alleged that China maintains databases of DNA and blood profiles from people in official and unofficial detention centres and that the availability of organs such as kidneys, livers, and hearts at lower prices has made the country a major centre for organ transplants.
Some scientists and medical professionals have called for a boycott of Chinese institutions and a rejection of Chinese article submissions in scientific journals due to the country’s human rights record.
Good sleep provides better health and a healthy lifestyle
There are various factors that can disrupt our sleep patterns and hinder us from getting the recommended 8 hours of sleep per night.
One such factor is an imbalance in the hormone melatonin, which helps regulate our sleep-wake cycle. Excessive exposure to light at night, such as from the use of electronic devices, can disrupt melatonin production and lead to insomnia and other issues.
Stress and mental health problems can also interfere with sleep, as can a habit of consistently staying up late or having an inconsistent sleep schedule.
Sleep apnea, a condition in which a person’s breathing is interrupted during sleep, is another common cause of sleep disruption and should be addressed by a medical specialist if symptoms persist.
Researchers found the genetic factors that protect people from Covid
Brazilian researchers have published two papers that provide new insights into the genetic factors that protect against SARS-CoV-2 infection or severe COVID-19.
One study looked at “resilient super-agers,” elderly people over 90 who either recovered from mild COVID-19 or remained asymptomatic after testing positive for the virus.
The other study analyzed the case of identical twins, only one of whom suffered from long-term symptoms of COVID-19.
The researchers focused on the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) region of chromosome 6 and the exome, the protein-coding portion of the genome.
They identified several genetic variants that may play a role in protecting against severe COVID-19, including MUC22, a gene associated with mucus production, and several genes involved in the immune response.
The researchers hope that this knowledge will contribute to the development of vaccines and treatments for viral diseases.
Flower carnival in rural Khumtai in Assam
A two-day flower carnival has been held in rural Khumtai, Assam, attracting over 10,000 visitors. The event, which took place at the Jugibari Rural Tourism Centre, was organized to raise awareness of the potential for flowers to be a source of livelihood for local residents.
The carnival featured 34 stalls, which were fully booked in advance, and sold saplings worth approximately INR 10 lakh ($13,500) over the two days.
The carnival was part of a series of programs aimed at promoting the area as a rural tourism destination. The Jugibari area is already a popular tourist destination due to the Jugibeel wetlands, which attract a large number of migratory birds.
The carnival provided a platform for local people to benefit from tourism in the area.
