Omicron variant – “The Biggest current threat”: G7

The G7 declared the Omicron to be the “biggest current threat” at the health ministers meeting on 16 December 2021.

The G7 health ministers conducted their final meeting earlier this week in Britain. That has experienced increasing case rates in recent days, with record numbers on Thursday.

In order to counteract its spread, the ministers focused on worldwide access to diagnostics, genome sequencing, vaccinations, and medicines. They also agreed on the growing significance of booster initiatives and frequent testing, in addition to ongoing non-pharmaceutical interventions.

In the meantime, US President Joe Biden cautioned that the Omicron variant would spread far more quickly in the US. And advised Americans to get vaccinated or boosted.

Severe cold wave expected to hit in various parts of the country: IMD

India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned that there will be a severe cold wave condition over the next three days across various parts of India.

In the early morning, severe fog is expected in many states of North India. Punjab, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are the expected states to have severe fog and cold waves.

Dense fog carries particulate matter and other pollutants, which become trapped in the lungs and clog them. That also leads to reducing their lung’s functional capacity and increasing wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath.

So, IMD requested the people be safe during this heavy winter climate.

Five distinct symptoms that differentiate Omicron from a common cold

With over 100 cases of the Omicron variant in India, there is a necessity to increase measures by getting vaccinated and adhering to all safety standards.

However, because winter is the season of frequent colds and coughs, it is essential to understand the symptoms of the new variation in order to prevent misunderstanding and initiate proper treatment.

According to Dr Shuchin Bajaj, managing director of the Ujala Cygnus Group of Hospitals, “Omicron has five specific symptoms of its own, which are: a sore throat, dry cough, severe fatigue, moderate muscular pains, and excessive sweating.”

Covid and common cold symptoms are quite similar. And it can be difficult to distinguish one from the other based only on symptoms such as headache, scratchy throat, and runny nose.

A clogged or runny nose, sore throat, headaches, muscular pains, coughing, a high fever, pressure in your ears and cheeks. And the loss of taste and smell are all signs of a cold.

He also says that because many of the symptoms of both disorders are similar. However, it’s crucial to check if you encounter any symptoms.

How do antioxidants help to rejuvenate and protect your skin?: Answer from a Dermatologist

Antioxidant-rich foods are incredibly healthy for the body. However, antioxidant-rich skincare products may also help combat free radicals, toxins, and pollutants in the air. The winter season, in particular, requires a little more pampering because the skin tends to get dry and flaky.

As a result, in a recent Instagram post from an Indian dermatologist, Dr Geetika Mittal Gupta discussed the need for antioxidants for general skin health. You may incorporate them into your diet or use them topically.

Firstly, antioxidants aid in the restoration of previously damaged skin. Secondly, Antioxidants play an important role in protecting skin from harmful deterrents in the face of growing pollution levels and pollutants in the environment. Foods high in antioxidants, such as fish oil, berries, almonds, and citrus fruits, may be beneficial to fight free radicals.
