Jujutsu Kaisen fans rejoice! The highly anticipated Season 2 of the beloved Studio MAPPA anime is set to premiere on July 6, 2023. Exclusively available on Crunchyroll, new episodes will be released every Thursday, creating a thrilling weekly viewing experience for fans.
Arcs to Adapt and New Opening Theme
Building on the success of the previous season, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will adapt multiple arcs from the influential manga. The first arc, “Gojo’s Past,” will explore the backstory of fan-favourite sorcerer Satoru Gojo and his complex relationship with Suguru Geto, who has turned into a villain. Clips from this arc were showcased in the Season 2 trailer, which also unveiled the new opening theme, “Ao no Sumika,” performed by Tatsuya Kitani. Additionally, the “Shibuya Incident” arc, as confirmed by Yuji’s voice actor, Junya Enoki, will also be included in the new season.

For those needing a refresher, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 followed the journey of Yuji Itadori after consuming the finger of the powerful Curse, Ryomen Sukuna. The anime gained immense popularity, contributing to the manga’s success. The tie-in prequel movie, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, explored the story of Yuta Okkotsu and his efforts to control the Cursed Spirit of his childhood friend. The film featured Suguru Geto as the antagonist and sets the stage for Yuta’s debut in the upcoming TV series.
