Highest Ever Frieght Loading recorded by Indian Railways for Jan 22

Indian Railways has set a new record for freight loading with 129.11 million tonnes in January 2022. From September 2020 to January 2022, the national transporter has constantly seen an increase in freight loading.

According to the Railway Ministry, Indian Railways loaded 107.56 million tonnes of freight in January 2019, 110.58 million tonnes in January 2020, 119.55 million tonnes in January 2021, and 129.11 million tonnes in January 2022.

Furthermore, the national transporter stated that the East Coast Railway became the first zonal railway to attain 200 MT freight loading in 2021-22.

The zone has surpassed 200 Million Tonnes in loading, a boost of 26.67 Million Tonnes over the previous fiscal term, i.e. from 1 April 2021 to 14 February 2022.

Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project: The first bullet train project in India

The government’s primary priority is the forthcoming High-Speed Rail Project between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, which will also be the country’s first Bullet Train project.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the forthcoming Ahmadabad – Mumbai High-Speed Rail project is necessary for the country. And would create a foundation for Mumbai’s identity. The PM also stressed that the government’s objective is to complete the Bullet Train project as soon as possible.

The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) carries out the MAHSR Project.

The NHSRCL has signed a deal with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Limited to design and also build a roughly eight-kilometre-long viaduct. That includes a High-Speed Rail station in Vadodara Gujarat for the planned Mumbai – Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor C-5 Package.

Karnataka government has approved the Nandi Hills ropeway project

The Karnataka state government approved a ₹93.40 crore ropeway project in Nandi Hills under a public-private partnership (PPP) approach.

According to Indian Express, Nandi Hills, a well-known weekend hideaway for Bengaluru residents, has become a tourism centre. The ropeway will be 2.93 kilometres long, with up to 18 towers. And each round journey will take around 28 minutes.

In addition, the cabinet has approved 50 cabins for the ropeway project, each of which can accommodate ten people.

State Health Minister and Chikkaballapur MLA K Sudhakar said that the Nandi Hills would become a worldwide tourist attraction. And also, it would be a significant milestone in the growth of Chikkaballapura.

Gujarat has completed 62% of the Smart City project in six cities

Gujarat has completed almost 62% of the 337 projects planned under the National Smart Cities Mission (NSCM). It has spent less than 35% of the ₹16,500 crore budgeted for the urban development programme.

Despite this, the state administration hopes to complete all of the projects by the June 2023 deadline. “Out of a total of 100 cities across the country, six cities were chosen under the NSCM, including Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat, Vadodara, Gandhinagar, and Dahod”. By 2021, construction had finished 209 of the 337 projects planned for these six cities.

A senior official with the state urban development department also added, “115 projects are at the work order stage, and the tendering procedure for the remaining 13 has begun”.

Atal Tunnel has officially won the title “World’s Longest Roadway Tunnel”

The World Book of Records has officially recognised the Atal Tunnel as the world’s longest roadway tunnel over 10,000 feet.

The Union Ministry of Defence declared the achievement during a ceremony held in Delhi. The award for ‘World’s Longest Highway Tunnel Above 10,000 Feet’ was accepted by Border Roads Organisation Director General Lt Gen Rajeev Chaudhry, recognising the Border Roads Organisation’s achievements (BRO).

The BRO tunnel connects the Lahaul-Spiti Valley to Manali. Of course, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the tunnel to the country on October 3, 2020.

The Atal Tunnel, which spans 9.02 kilometres and flows beneath the Rohtang Pass, is strategically significant.
