India plans to construct World’s Tallest tunnel at Shinku La Pass at 16,580 feet in height: BRO
Border Roads Organisation (BRO) of India plans to construct the world’s tallest tunnel at Shinku La Pass, at 16,580 feet, to connect Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh.
According to BRO Director General Lieutenant General Rajeev Chaudhary, work on the tunnel connecting Himachal Pradesh to Zanskar Valley in Ladakh will begin in July.
The path from the Zanskar side of Shinku La Pass to Manali is strategically crucial.
Lieutenant General Chaudhary informed PTI that the Central government has already designated BRO’s ‘Initiative Yojak’ to carry out this project.
This tunnel is projected to be completed by 2025 and would alter the economy of Zanskar Valley, he noted.
The tunnel’s south portal will be in Shinku La, while the north portal will be in Lakhang.
Gadkari inaugurated two new NH projects worth ₹1,791 crores in Maharashtra
Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways inaugurated and laid the groundwork for two national highway projects costing ₹1,791 crores in Dhule, Maharashtra, on April 22.
According to Gadkari, the initiatives would help the economic growth of the Dhule and Nandurbar districts.
He also promises that this would provide new job possibilities in the region.
These projects, planned under the Bharatmala concept, would offer new high-quality roads to the Dhule-Nandurbar districts.
Moreover, it also increases Maharashtra’s connectivity with Gujarat, Karnataka, and other states.
The minister claimed that this would reduce traffic congestion in Dhule and Chalisgaon.
He stated that holy sites in Dhule and the Aurangabad area would be easily accessible.
He also stated that the Shewali-Nandurbar road project would help to improve tribal areas in the region.
Indian Railways: PM laid the groundwork for the conversion of the Dahod workshop to a locomotive manufacturing unit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently laid the groundwork for the production of 9000 HP electric locomotives at the Dahod Production Unit.
It is the state of Gujarat’s first locomotive production plant for Indian Railways.
According to the Railway Ministry, the cost of upgrading the Dahod workshop to a manufacturing unit is over ₹20,000 crore.
Gujarat’s Dahod workshop, established in 1926 for the periodic refurbishment of steam locomotives.
Now, it would be converted into Indian Railways’ electric locomotive production plant with infrastructure enhancements.
In addition, over 10,000 people would get jobs directly or indirectly after the completion of the project.
According to the Railway Ministry, locomotives with a capacity of 9000 HP and a hauling capacity of 4500 tonnes would be manufactured in this loco manufacturing complex.
These locomotives will be capable of reaching speeds of up to 120 km/h.
The 9000 HP locomotives would have a ‘Kavach’ automatic train protection system.
Frequent power cuts in various parts of Tamil Nadu
On April 20, residents in Tamil Nadu faced power cuts after a few thermal plants operated by both the state and the central government failed.
That resulted in unexpected load shedding in numerous districts except for Chennai.
Because of a lack of electricity, some regions in the state had power outages lasting one to three hours at a time.
Except for Chennai city, the neighbouring districts of Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Vellore, and Villupuram had power outages beginning as early as 7 pm.
Tamil Nadu’s power minister, V Senthil Balaji, tweeted late that night about the state’s power shortages, which had irritated people.
He condemned the power outage from the central grid for the state’s electricity shortfall.
Tamil Nadu may face a serious coal shortage in the near future if supply continues below its daily requirements, according to authorities.
A new stadium to construct for conducting Jallikattu in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu: MK Stalin
MK Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, announced the construction of a gigantic stadium for Jallikattu in the Alanganallur town in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai district.
Tamil Nadu CM has made a great decision to develop infrastructure for sports ranging from Olympic games to traditional ones like Jallikattu and Silambattam.
“If a new stadium is built. We believe the government intends to build it on 80-100 acres. It will contain a separate space for players, fans, and parking facilities.”
“We can’t even supply a toilet right now. It will also be advantageous to have quick access to hospitals via ambulances”.
“We think it will become a well-known address, similar to Chennai’s Nehru stadium. And, similar to how cricket has a stadium, it is a fantastic chance for Jallikattu to have its own stadium”. Madurai Jallikattu Peravai’s president P Rajasekhar gave this statement.
