DC Comics

One of the largest comic book publishers around the world, DC Comics is the major competitor of Marvel comics. DC Entertainment, the parent company of DC Comics taken it to various media platforms. Thus, it made it be the one of leading entertainment globally. Moreover, this is where the story takes place in the fictional DC Universe featuring iconic heroes of the world. It includes everyone’s favourite Superman, Batman, goes on. Numerous publications were labelled under DC Comics. Thus, making them the second biggest publisher only after Viz Media and following Marvel Comics.

History of DC Comics

The history of Major Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson’s American comic book publication started in the year 1934. Also, He named it National Allied Publications, Inc. He published its first comic book New Fun: The Big Comic Magazine #1. It was published in a tabloid-sized (10-inch x 15-inch) 36-page magazine on January 11, 1935. Its cover dating February 1935 later became More Fun Comics in 1936 with all original material. More Fun Comics introduced numerous superheroes in the comic world such as Doctor Occult, Doctor Fate, Green Arrow, Aquaman, and Superboy. More Fun Comics moved all its superhero features to the new comic book series. Thus, naming Adventure Comics with issue #108 in March 1946.

Second comic book series

National Allied Publications created its second comic series New Comics in December 1935. New Comics with its 12th issue in January 1937 was retitled as New Adventure Comics. Again in November 1938 issue #32 changed its title to Adventure Comics which existed till 1983 and revived again in 2009 and continued until its last issue #529 in October 2011. Adventure Comics featured numerous popular characters like The Flash, Green Lantern, and Starman.

Detective Comics

In 1937, Wheeler-Nicholson along with Jack S. Liebowitz owners started Detective Comics, Inc. Subsequently, In march 1937 published the first volume of Detective Comics #1 of the comic book series Detective Comics by Detective Comics, Inc. In the issue of Detective Comics #27, Batman made his first appearance becoming the fictional world’s best detective in the May of the year 1939. Detective Comics debuted numerous other favourite superheroes Robin, Batwoman, Martian Manhunter, and Arkham Knight.

Action Comics

In June 1938, National Allied Publications published the first volume of the Action Comics series. Thus, introducing the first superhero character Superman created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster started the Golden Age of Comic Books. The action book series is one of the ongoing original comic book series. Later in 1938, Detective Comics, Inc., forced Wheeler-Nicholson out of the company and purchased National Allied Publications.

Golden Age of Comic Books

All-American Publications have founded by Maxwell Charles Gaines and funded by Harry Donenfeld (CEO of National Allied Publications and Detective Comics) in the year 1938, one of the two largest publishers to merge to form National Comics Publications. All-American Publications published various comic book series such as All-Star Comics, All-American Comics, and Flash Comics. Publication introduced numerous masked crime fighters, for example, The Atom, Wonder Women, The Flash, Green Lantern, and Hawkman during the Golden Age of Comic Books.

DC Comics

The two comic book publications Detective Comics and National Allied Publications merged together on September 30, 1946. Moreover, it become National Comics Publications, Inc. and absorbed All-American Publications owned by Max Gaines and Liebowitz into it. In 1961, National Comics Publications, Inc. renamed National Periodical Publications, Inc. Again in 1977, Company officially rebranded its publication to DC Comics, continuing its glory.

Superman

Superman alias Clark Kent is one of the most successful comic book costumed superhero characters in history. It has introduced in Action Comics #1 on April 18, 1938. In spite of being an alien from Krypton, he swore to protect Earth. Krypton is a distant planet from Earth destroyed when he was a child. He grew up on the planet Earth, raised by Jonathan Kent and Martha Kent. Superman has numerous famous supporting characters. Thus, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen are a few of them. Also, Superman’s best-known nemeses are Lex Luthor, Doomsday, and Brainiac.

Batman

Batman, alias Bruce Wayne made a best Detective in the DC Comics. Also, Batman has created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger. Bruce Wayne lives in Gotham City as a wealthy industrialist and philanthropist American playboy. His parents Thomas Wayne and Martha Wayne died in his childhood. Bruce Wayne capitalized his fear into a persona to protect the people in need. He trains himself to become Batman, inspiring bats to overcome fear. He fights criminals at night becoming, Dark Knight. The character does have featured in various imprints. And, it allied with many other favourite comic book characters. Thus, featured in movies, television, animation, and video games. Detective comics became the longest-running comic book. Batman got numerous supporting characters and enemies throughout its run. Such as Alfred Pennyworth, Dick Grayson, Jim Gordon, Joker, Penguin, and Riddler.

Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman is an amazonian half goddess fictional DC character. As well as, the character is the most popular female superhero. Wonder Woman, alias Princess Diana first appeared in All-Star Comics #8 on October 21, 1941. William Moulton Marston created the character along with artist Harry G Peter. Moreover, Moulton was a psychologist and a writer in America. Justice League has founded by Wonder Woman along with other members of the team. Also, some of the other members are Superman, Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter and Aquaman. Justice League has become one of the world’s most famous fictional organisations in the comic world.

The Flash

The Flash is a speedster introduced in Showcase #4 in October 1956. Robert Kanigher and Carmine Infantino created The Flash. Thus, The first character in DC comics to have this name was Jay Garrick. Secondly, Barry Allen is the second one to be The Flash. And one of the founding members of the Justice League. Barry Allen introduced the Multiverse into DC Universe. Barry Allen has known as the fastest man alive in the comic world. And he will continue to be. Barry Allen gains his power from another dimension called speed force. The other Flashs’ are Bart Allen and Wally West. The Flash has his own allies and enemies in his own comic book series.

Green Lantern

Green Lantern is a fictional superhero in DC Comics. Further, Green Lantern uses a power ring to create and manipulate things around him with his imagination. Indeed, the power of the ring increases with his willpower. On the run, many have obtained the ring and used it against evil forces. Green Lantern first appeared in 1940, created by Martin Nodell and Bill Finger. The first green lantern in comics was Alan Scott. Green Lanterns are members of an intergalactic law enforcement agency, Green Lantern Corps. The second Green Lantern is one of the founding members of the Justice League.
