Anyone who looks at the stars secretly wonders what’s going on in the universe. For us humans, it’s almost unimaginable to think beyond white space. In Modern Civilization, many types of research happened about space, gathered a pinch of salt information in a large space. Even though researchers carried out many discoveries, most explanations are only hypothetical. However, let’s dive into the five most interesting and mysterious discoveries that happened during Space Exploration Beyond White Space.

Wall of the Solar system - Space Exploration

WALL OF THE SOLAR SYSTEM

The knowledge we learned about the solar system in our schools is, that it has a Sun surrounded by eight planets. The Earth is the third most planet from the Sun in the Solar System. Each planet has its respective moons as a natural satellite. We have also learned that Pluto is the Ninth Planet in our Solar System. And considered a false planet as sometimes it deviates from the orbit of our system. But, have you ever thought of, what’s on the edge of our solar system? Beyond eight planets, things are more disorganized with a lower gravitational pull from the Sun. Billions of rock and ice are in orbits but never themselves formed into planets. The belt of comets further beyond the eight planets, called the Kuiper Belt.

The Sun, which is in the centre of our solar system influences the surrounding objects to travel in its orbits forming a bubble called the Heliosphere around the solar system. The distance from the Sun to the Heliosphere is 11 billion miles, which is 100 times the distance between Sun and Earth. Further the particles from the Sun, the lesser the energy it has. At the edge of the solar system, the energy of uncharged hydrogen atoms in the interstellar space is pushed back against that energy emitted by the Sun. This boundary is said to be Heliopause. This boundary has been crossed only by 2 spacecraft – Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 sent by NASA in 2012 and 2018. These spacecraft collect information twice a year. With the data collected from these spacecraft, NASA proved that there is a “Wall” in the Solar System.

Hottest planet - Kelt-9b

HOTTEST PLANET EVER DISCOVERED

The journal Nature published an announcement that the NASA astronomers had discovered the Hottest Planet ever in space exploration history. NASA discovered the planet on June 5, 2017. This planet comprises different gases and the scientists named it, KELT-9b. If you ask me if the planet is habitable? I know, you definitely won’t ask that question. The giant blue gas ball, KELT-9b can reach up to 4300 degrees Celsius (7772 degrees Fahrenheit). When compared to our brightest star, it is 1200 degrees Celsius cooler than the Sun. The planet seems to be a giant ordinary ball of gas. The blue planet, KELT-9b is approximately 670 light-years from Earth.

NASA found this plant using a specialized telescope exclusively to study the extreme thermal conditional planets. The specialized telescope, Kilo degree Extremely Little Telescopes was also used to find a similar type of planet called KELT-11b. KELT-9b’s atmosphere is puffed up because of its extreme thermal conditions. As it’s almost 3 times as enormous as Jupiter but only half it’s dense.

KELT-9b is feasibly so hot because the prime star of its solar system is twice as huge and scorching as our Sun. The blue A-type star, KELT-9b is a superheated gas tail that could be in its atmosphere, expanding so much but it’s merely floating in space. The researchers speculate that the atmosphere might disappear entirely in the next 300 million years into space. KELT-9b revolves around a full orbit once every 1.5 Earth days, it’s pretty fast. The fast revolution makes the planet somewhat seems to be squashed. The combination of different gases changes its orbit over time. NASA uses two telescopes, Hubble Space Telescope and James Webb Space Telescope to study the planet.

PERSEVERANCE - MARS

PERSEVERANCE DISCOVERIES ON MARS

Perseverance rover had sent by NASA to the red planet, Mars on July 30, 2020, for the research of the Martian surface. Do you know who desired to build a human habitation on Mars? The pioneer of the successful electric car company. Yes, you’re right. Elon Musk wants to form a Human Martian civilization on Mars and undergoing much research and development in human habitation. The main task of the perseverance rover is to find any life forms and collect soil samples to analyze the mineral resource. So that another rover can gather these samples and get back to our planet, Earth.

Another interesting fact is, inside the perseverance rover, there is a flying machine called Ingenuity, which is the first helicopter to fly on Mars planet. 40 miles ahead of the landing site of the Perseverance rover in the interior part of the Jezero crater, the snaps sent from the rover assumes to be an ancient river delta by the scientists. Perseverance rover holds 2 microphones and recorded the first-ever audio on Mars in space exploration history. One of the two microphones, the SuperCam instrument helps in assessing the composition of rocks on the Martian surface. NASA made a great success story in this space exploration and still gathering more Mars information.

Keplar - 16 Solar System - Two Suns for one planet

TWO SUNS ONE PLANET

Have you seen the Star Wars movie? In that movie, the protagonist Luke Skywalker lives on a planet called Tatooine, which orbits around its twin suns. In fact, there is actually a planet, Keplar-16b- an exoplanet that orbits in the system of 2 stars in the Cygnus Constellation. The two suns rise and set on the horizon of this planet, that will be mesmerizing if we had the technology to reach 200 light-years in a human life span. However, if you somewhat reach Kepler-16b, you would die due to heat and lack of oxygen.

Here, the interesting fact is, that the objects on the planet have two shadows and the same for us if we reach there. But, there is a planet even more exciting than this, HD 131399 Ab discovered by NASA astronomers revolves around 3 suns at once. This planet is nearly four times larger than Jupiter and to reach this exoplanet, you have to travel 320 light-years. The one-year revolution of the exoplanet around its three stars takes 550 of our Earth years.

Baby Black Hole - Space Exploration

BABY BLACK HOLES

Black holes are space’s most terrifying objects that can trap every single particle around them with a strong gravitational force. Have you heard of Black holes? But this is different. In March 2019, some Japanese astronomers set a goal to search for baby pictures of the universe by pointing their telescope to the corner of space around 13 billion light-years away. They found 83 undiscovered supermassive black holes that date to the early days of the universe. These are moreover a bunch of quasars ripe with gases and dust that surround supermassive black holes. These are around 800 million years old after the Big Bang achieving them some of the earliest objects ever detected.

CONCLUSION

The technology and development in space exploration may have been hyped throughout these years. Nevertheless, it’s better to make our planet more habitable than to create a human civilization on other liveable planets. The discoveries and research must encourage the next generation to make a better planet not seed the ideas of escapism.
